Dancing on a Flame

Passion dances on a match strike,
the burn so enticing, no whisper of a scar.

*
Love creates both fools and demons
when bed sheets are its only warmth.

 *
Almost is an eternity when the heart
builds a nest from blindness.

 *
Lust is a summer fruit that withers
when winter's chill snuffs its flame.

I wrote it as a single poem, but then realized each line could stand alone.

  1. A powerful write!
    These words
"Love creates both fools and demons
when bed sheets are its only warmth."
and the idea of the summer fruit withering/dying in the winter chill....
    Very telling indeed.

  3. A nice combination, Susie. Yet each holds a truth often lived.

  4. They are so nearly American sentences (and one is). Can't you find just one extra syllable for each of the others? It would be so cool. Not that they aren't wonderful as they are; wish I could write discrete couplets as beautiful and original as that!
