Contagion’s nest of lungs
built from hissing tubes
and needles’ plunge was April’s

could still bring flowers to May.

"if tears could still bring flowers to May." This is incredibly, incredibly strong and powerful, Susie!💝👏👏 Congratulations on an amazing month of poetry! It's been a pleasure writing alongside with you!
ReplyDeleteAnd now we wait to see if.
ReplyDeleteA wrenching little piece! You certainly have the (enviable) gift of saying heaps in very few words.
I'm ready for May, big time.
ReplyDeleteHappy May Day.
I woke up this morning with the grade school teachers, several different years, who had made a noble attempt to make a Maypole with streamers attached to the flag pole. Getting a decent May Dance by our kids group around it was another bigger yet challenge.
..
I think this is the most perfect way to conclude your April collection of poems, Susie. thank you so much for drawing inspiration from my wordlist.
ReplyDeleteBrief, brief as the lives of so many have been shown to be this month. Powerful, and very expressive of this current moment in time. Reading it years from now, this poem will give us this moment back and we will see if we have learned its meaning.
