This Poem is Hope

This poem is hope
in rockets’ red glare,
prayers rising through flames.

This poem is unity
where men plant war,
empathy in the cacophony
of sermons that call it sin.

This poem is human,
the color red, hands
that lift, feet that
walk the path of courage,
resilience in the blindness of discord.

This poem is the audacity of hope
This poem is empathy.
This poem is unity in a world hungry for war.

Ghosted by Poetry

Words have been
quiet in me.

Not all words,
anger always
finds its voice.

It stomps
on my brain
hoping to reach
my tongue.

Poetry has
ghosted me.
I beg for text
a smiling word,
a heart that
doesn’t bleed,
but my pen has
found another poet.

Wars, billionaires,
death, hunger…
Are there any
new verses
to describe it?

Temple Moan

Shadow prayers steeple hands
into a temple moan of unknown tongues.

There’s no veil, no shaman, no holy path
through pen strangled words to light switch
the tunnel of unanswerable.

Alone in the heartbeat thump I become
one with freedom, move from the house
horror built into the ancient strength of woman.

Peace supplants war.
