“A
few of us are going out after work to pretend it’s not the end of the world,
swamp at my back door
(denial legislates - earth revolts).
If I can get government out of my uterus,
we can go out for a drink and ignore
our ice is straight outta Flint.

For those who don't know, Flint, Michigan's water is dangerously polluted.
Real Toads ~ Poetic Irony
Susie, I cant find your poem......the image link isnt working, is that where it is?
ReplyDeleteI think there is an error in the image.
DeleteI fixed it!
ReplyDeleteOur muses seem to be dancing to the same tune (and thinking). Perhaps, because it is hard to have a brain and a uterus and not feel like this right now. The world is drowning in humanity's collective stupidity (and greed), and those who could quicken the change are much too busy nosing around our bodies. Makes me want to scream.
ReplyDeleteAnd they STILL haven't fixed the water in Flint!!!! I swear, it is impossible to see Repubs as anything but corrupt old white men out for themselves and their old white male cronies.
ReplyDeleteThe rising waters, the polluted waters, the denial while old geezers make archaic laws to set women back a hundred years. When will this nightmare end? WILL it end?
ReplyDeleteThis is rich, Susie. I have felt for the ladies ever since our 2016 U.S. elections.
ReplyDelete..
Powerful and to the point
ReplyDeleteThis is incredibly potent, Susie! I wonder when this issue will be resolved.
ReplyDeleteThe ice out of Flint really added to the bitter irony of this...
ReplyDeleteIt might be the end of the world as we know it.
Zing! You snapped this "rubber band" and it hurts. Fantastic last lines.
ReplyDeleteIce straight outta Flint. Yowza!! Perfect.
ReplyDeleteOh, Susie...that last line had me rolling on the floor! Pathos and humor all tied up in a little bow. that's my kind of poetry!
ReplyDeleteSo much of our legislation is based on denial - denial of bodily autonomy, denial of equality, denial of science. The only thing they won't deny is the power of the dollar bill.
