I Won't Choose Empty

I can’t swim in another’s baptism
or walk the path of a constrictive
definition of un(conditional) love.
Love can’t be commanded to leave,
or be erased when it consumes the soul.

...I won’t choose empty...

There is no light in a sacrifice that
denies the heart’s own revelation.
I no longer wish to live in a prison
built to keep me from my truth,
or whither to appease another’s blindness.

  4. We had a prompt a while back that demanded a strong ending sentence. This one surely takes the cake!

  5. Wow. No more withering! Bravo. So many things to talk about in this arena, right? Family ties... relationships... sometimes the healthiest thing is to stand tall and walk away if to stay means to continue to wither. xoxxo Susie.

  8. Yes I agree...walk away regardless of the pain that decision may cause.
To live a lie is to be dead already.
