Plucked To Dry Moans

I gathered my damndelions,
plucked them to dry moans,
and planted their howls in your pillow.

Crystal and gin, never and again,
a liar is never sorry until caught.

Yesterday’s a corpse.
Tomorrow’s hollow eyed.
The knife harvests drops of blood.

She wasn’t me…I wasn’t her,
but you were always you.
Ashy prayer braids us as one.

The grass never stays green
when lust prowls scarlet light.
Two women purr louder than one.

  1. The idea of plucking damndelions and planting howls......spooky. Well penned.

  2. There's a lot of howling that needs to be done--you do a great take on the doppelganger theme here, Susie--shivers and splinters of the past, of order, warmth, caring dispersed and all the wrong packed into every new day seem rolled up in these words.

  4. 'She wasn’t me…I wasn’t her, but you were always you. Ashy prayer braids us as one' oooh.. this is deliciously dark and enticing!

  5. Interesting take on the idea of a doppelganger. I suppose in the man's eyes they were interchangeable, but his betrayal did make them one in purpose - against him.

  6. WOWWWWWwwwwww-eeeeee, Susie! Tiger teeth here. "Damndelions"...love that. And then the second line. The whole thing packs such a punch and is full of righteous fury. Are you MY doppelganger this time, girl? Really, this sounds like me, to me! I also love love love the vintage pix on the side bar and the killer version of The Thrill Is Gone. Just wow.

    She wasn’t me…I wasn’t her,
    but you were always you.
Ashy prayer braids us as one.
(But I don't think a lying ba$%@rd is ever sorry as we know it)

  14. Earthy, animal like in its feel, how good this poem comes across where lust is acceptable which of course it is.

  15. Gruesome threesome. Lust and revenger are as American as dripping cherry pie. Love the new look and take.
